Welcome to Year 3!
The teachers this year are Mr Cook in Kingfisher class and Miss Goodwin in Woodpecker, who are both very excited for the year ahead!
Ylva and Tangna will be joining us during the mornings, supporting lots of groups of children in their learning and with smaller groups in the afternoons from across the year group. We are also ably supported by Miss Stevens (our PE teacher) and Victoria in the Hub who will be leading learning on a Tuesday afternoon while we plan the exciting learning for the following week. On a Tuesday morning, Woodpecker class will be covered by Miss Sokoni and she will be back in Year 3 again on Wednesday afternoons to cover Mr Cook.
If you ever need to speak to us about anything, big or small, please come find us on the playground or phone the office to make an appointment (better for the big things!).
Homework will be set every Thursday and should be handed back in every Monday. They will be set homework that will link to and support learning in class. If children need further help, then homework club runs after school every Thursday.
Miss Stevens (our school's sports coach) will deliver PE every Tuesday afternoon. We will also be going swimming later on in the year.
It is important that children come to school with a PE kit on this day. Their PE kit needs to either be a house t-shirt in their relevant colour which can be purchased from the office, or any t-shirt in the colour of the house they are in.
It's still vitally important that your child reads every day. They should read for at least 15 minutes in the evening and it will really help push on children's learning if they were asked questions about what they have just read.
Children can change books weekly and take up to three books at a time. We have a new electronic lending system which should make lending easier and enable us to monitor who is and isn't regularly taking books.
If your child does not have a book bag, one can be purchased cheaply from the school office.
