Here is the work that we would like completed over the week - each day we will add new activities.
Weekly Phone Calls
Mrs Sessions, Miss Vintin and Miss Wilkinson will have a weekly phone call with you and your child. We will talk to your child to see how they are finding their activities and we will talk to you to see how you are and what help we can provide.
Miss Wilkinson will ring Ladybird children every Monday morning between 9am and 12pm.Mrs Sessions and Miss Vintin will ring Caterpillar children every Wednesday morning between 9am and 12pm.

Creative
Perhaps you would like to make some play dough? Look at the photo (see image gallery below this blog) of the ingredients needed and give it a go. What can you make with your play dough. Take some photos and add them to you learning diary.
Tips:
Remember to knead the dough after mixing the ingredients.
If it is too crumbly, add a little bit more water and knead the dough again.

Friday 27th March
Maths
Today we will be practicing counting.
Activity 1
Watch the video of Problem Polly and I practicing our counting. Polly makes a lot of mistake. Can you spot them?
Activity 2
Now it’s your turn. You will need a bowl of dry pasta or dry beans.
Can you count out 10 pieces? Remember to check your answer by counting the pieces. You need 10.
Put a video of your learning on your Interactive Learning Diary.

Choose a tricky word and think of a sentence to write using it in your book.
Literacy
Last week our chicks hatched! See photos in the 'blog image gallery' below.
Activity 1
Talk to your child about what they can see. Ask them to use full sentences.
What can they tell you about the chicks?
What was it like when they hatched?
What did they look and feel like?
What did we need to do to look after them?
Activity 2
Together think of a caption about one of the photos. eg. We looked at the eggs. The egg cracked. The chick came out. The chick was soft. He has a beak.
In your book draw a chick and use your sounds to write ‘chick’.
Encourage your child to do this by themselves.
- Use robot arms to say the sounds
- Find each sound on the sound mat
- Write the sounds in order
Ask your child to tell you as much as they can about the chicks and write exactly what they say next to their picture. Please upload a photo of their drawing and writing.
Challenge
Think of and write your own sentence about the chick photos. (You could print one to stick in your book) Remember to:
- Use finger spaces between words.

Phonics and Reading
Get out your sound mat (see images if you can't find yours). Can you point to each one and say the sound? Can you find the new sounds we have learnt this week?
Adults – say a sound – can your child point to it? Practise to help them get quicker!
Say each of the sounds we have learnt this week oi ear air. Ask your child to write it as quickly as they can.
Log on to ‘Bug Club’ Your login details are in the front of your home learning journal.
Find the book called ‘Chick gets lost’ and ask your child to read it.
Be a digraph detective to spot the sounds and use your robot arms to blend. Answer the questions at the end of the book. Can you remember what happens in the story? Use full sentences to retell the story. eg. First ….. then…. next….
To show us your learning, upload a video of your child reading, retelling the story or pointing to the sounds on their sound mat.

Hello Ladybirds and Caterpillars :) Today we are practicing our representation of number.
Watch the YouTube video of the story ‘One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab’. But STOP the video at 5.42 minutes.

Activity 1
At 5.42 minutes STOP the video. Now draw 10 legs in your home learning book! You can use as many animals as you like but you can only draw 10 legs.
Make sure you check your answers by counting the number of legs you have drawn!

Adults - can you say each of these words and ask your child to use their robot arms to write it in their books? Use the sound mat to find the sounds if they are not sure.

Say this sentence to your child without showing them. Can I join you?
Ask them to ‘tap’ it into their head to remember. Ask them to write it in their book, remembering a finger space between each word! ('You' is a tricky word we have learnt. If they are not sure they can look on the tricky word mat - photo attached) Do not tell them how to write the words but help them to use their robot arms and find the sounds / words on the mats.
Take a photo of your learning and add it on here. Adults - please say how your child got on with this learning - did they need help with anything? Could they try the challenge?
Handwriting
This week we are going to practise writing these letters: l i t
Activity 1:
Watch this video to see how the letters are written. To watch the video you will need a login and password. You can find this on ILD.
Activity 2:
Can you practise writing this letter in your books?
Write the sound 3 times.
Activity 3:
Now ask an adult to help you draw some straight lines in your book. Use a ruler if you have one. Can you write the letter 6 times on the line? Leave a finger space between each letter. See the picture in images for an example.
Challenge:
Can you write some words that you know that have these letters in them. For example top or lip.
Try and practise your handwriting everyday.
Take a photo of your handwriting and ask your parent/carer to put it on your interactive learning diary at the end of the week. Your teachers would love to see it!
