Home Learning Day 1

Literacy Task

In school we have been learning the story: Lost and Found. Watch a version of the story here:

Talk to your adult about the story. Where is the story set? Tell your child it is set in Antarctica.

To learn more about the Antarctica you can watch this video:

Now use what you have learned from the video to draw a picture of Antarctica. What animals would you see there?

Use your phonics to label the animals that you draw.

Math Task

This week we are learning about money and coins.

Sometimes you need to use coins to buy something from a shop. Ask your parents/carer if you can look at any coins they have.

Below are pictures of some of the coins you might use.

1p coin

2p coin.

This coin is the same as two 1p coins.

5p coin

This coin is the same as five 1p coins..

10p coin

This coin is the same as ten 1p coins.

Here are pictures of some other coins you might use: 20p , 50p and £1 (100p).

How many 1p coins are needed to be the same as each coin?

Watch this song all about the different coin we use:

Home Learning Day 2

Literacy Task

Watch the story again today.

Talk to your adult about what happened in the story. Who is the story about?

Can you draw a picture of the 2 main characters?

Can you write a sentence to describe each character. For example you could write

The little boy has a hat.

The penguin is black and white.

Try and use your sounds and don’t worry if you don’t spell all of the words correctly.  It is much better to use your sounds in Reception.

Maths Task

Before we go to a shop, it is good to know how much money we have.

You need to add the numbers on the coins together to know how much money you have and can spend.

In the following activity you need to add the number on the coins together to find out how much money is in each purse.

1. How much money is in the purse?

2. How much money is in the purse?

3. How much money is in the purse?
