Friday

English/Enquiry

Today is a bit different, we would like you to make a 'habitat shoebox' that reflects the adjectives you would use to describe the habitat.  You can be as creative as you want here and use different materials from around the house and outside. Look at the gallery below to see the Savannah Habitats the children in class made and watch the video at the bottom of the page to see what different habitats look like!

Maths

Today we will be drawing pictograms. Pictograms use pictures to show each object in data, this pictures can be linked to the topic of the pictogram or simple circles. Today all the pictograms use the key every picture = 1. Watch the video below and complete the worksheet. If you would prefer to do the class worksheet, click here

Thursday

English

Today we will be starting to read our story 'Zeraffa Giraffa'.  We will also be looking at adjectives and using them to help describe the habitat of a giraffe.  You can use the sheet here to help with this.  If you need it, the giraffe video is below the English lesson.

Maths

Today we are looking at tally charts and how we can use them to find out information and answer questons.  Watch the video below which guides you how to answer the questions and then have a go at this worksheet

.

Phonics

Today we are learning a new sound for a grapheme we already know! Watch the video to find out more.

Wednesday

English

Today we will be looking very closely at a picture from our new book.  We will be 'picture detectives', trying to squeeze every tiny bit of meaning out of the image that we can.  We will then use some sentence starters to answer the questions in the video.  You can download and print this sheet to help you.

Maths

Today we are going to be continuing to draw tally charts. Remember we always do the fifth line across when drawing tallies. A nice way to remember how to draw tallies is to say 'one, two, three, four, cross the gate' so that your data looks like gates!  Watch this video about tally charts to find out more.  You can chose to do the white rose worksheet alongside the video here or the worksheet we are doing in class with the challenges. Enjoy!

Phonics

In phonics we always need to go back and recap previous learning to secure our understanding of the sounds. We would like to practise this sound again at home as a number of you at home missed this sound or found it tricky! This is also a grapheme we want you to start using in your spelling when you are back at school!

Tuesday

English

We are going to be storytellers today!  Have a look at the collection of artifacts from the video and try your best to come up with a story that  includes all of the items.  Remember you can use your imagination and make your story as interesting and unusual as you like, as long as it has a start, a middle and an ending.  The accompanying sheet is here

Maths

We are beginning a new unit called statistics in Maths. This is all about how we can record data in maths using tallies, charts and pictograms! Today we will be learning how to draw tallies. Watch this video below and create your own tally charts. We will be asking you to share these on zoom later so make sure you have yours ready. Click here for your tally chart template. Here is a discovery sheet if you would like to practise tallies first.
